Movie Review: Factory Girl

Sienna Miller as Edie Sedgwick

So lately i have been catching up on older movies and somewhat landed on watching a biographical film about the famous artist Andy Warhol and socialite/model Edie Sedgwick, based on there life in the mid 60's. This movie highlighted on how some of the art and fashion industry became to be in those days with the style, photography, art and entertainment. In the movie it is said that Edie Sedgwick grew up rough childhood but became wealthy as she aged and was known to be a actress/model. The story portrays Warhols keen interest in Edie and how he believes she was that special girl who will inspire him in his art and film. But on the other hand her story shows how fame can lead to split personalities within actresses/models during those days and how artists can manipulate women to become something they are not, due to jealousy, the taste of the limelight and popularity. There where plenty of things that came out in the 60's especially in technology, fashion, arts, media, human rights and so on, but also the negative; like drugs and alcohol abuse, which was mostly portrayed in Andy Warhols factory. The movie shown more drama and the negative influences.

In my opinion I think the movie was alright. Somethings that could of benefited the movie is how the story was presented, it seemed like it was all over the place. Another is the fashion of the 60's, somehow the background characters appeared to be more 90's looking and not so classic. Especially the menswear, with the bad fitting suits and oversized ties, it looked like their wardrobe just came out of a Moores store. The only exception is the actors who played the main characters like Sienna Miller, Guy Pearce, Jimmy Falllon, Hayden and some others, they seemed on point with the leather jackets, suits, coats and eye-wear game. Don't forget, the ladies fashion too was alright. But what can you expect, the movie was made in 2007 not the 60's. Also another thing is that the movie became somewhat a controversy to the real life story of Andy and Edie which was falsely represented, according to people who worked with them during those days, creating negative reviews about the film.  Overall I got to hand it to Sienna Miller though, she was on point with her acting in the movie with her personality, fashion, and classiness. In addition it was a good choice to pick her for the film because she has a close resemblance to the real Edie Sedgwick...
